From 2021 the particle counter is introduced different countries. The soot emissions of Euro 5 and 6 diesel vehicles must be measured with this new tester. What is involved? We are happy to explain it to you! Test Equipment Nederland BV (TEN) has been developing and producing exhaust gas emission equipment since 1985. We do this with a group of enthusiastic colleagues in Baambrugge, located in the area of Amsterdam. Every year we produce between 5,000 and 6,000 emission testers, which are largely exported. The INNOVA 500 is standard equipped with test features such as a RPM and oil temperature sensor, for a complete and comprehensive diagnosis of petrol, LPG and CNG vehicle emissions. Test results can easily be analysed, taking only a few minutes of the technicians time to complete a full emission test. Diesel measurement is available as a key option. The INNOVA 500 is MID (OIML R99 Class 0) approved.

TEN Automotive presents a complete new high resolution diesel smoke tester, the TEN LPA. The European Commission requires that new diesel vehicles comply with the European EURO 5 and 6 norm to reduce smoke particulate emission in order to improve the air quality. Excisting smoke meters have a low resolution, too low to measure the emission levels of EURO 5 and 6 diesel vehicles. The LPA is able to measure very low emsission levels. Using the latest technology, the TEN LPA is able to detect DPF malfunctioning or other engine system failures that cause higher emissions. Modern diesel vehicles have advanced exhaust systems that possess a DOC, wall-flow DPF and SRC to reduce up to 99.9% of the harmful emissions. To detect defects in one of these components, a measuring range of 0.5 m-1 in high resolution is required. No problem for the LPA. The TEN LPA is a partial flow smoke meter. Reliable, robust and dynamic, following each acceleration without any problem. The TEN LPA measures according to the light absorption principle. Equipped with an InGaN led, an accurate heating system to condition to smoke chamber and various sensors, the TEN LPA ensures a precise measurement. The full aluminium chamber and other A-quality components ensure a trouble free operation for passenger cars, light commercial vehicles and trucks.

A PTL 5002 two-place plate bench provides a perfect diagnosis of a braking system. With a length of only 2.20 meters this makes a compact but powerful addition to the workshop. The PTL 5002 has a fully galvanized chassis. This means that this record bank is insensitive to rust. The two-place brake tester is equipped with a nylon running gear, which does not require grease or other lubrication. This makes the whole insensitive to dirt and moisture and therefore virtually maintenance-free. Furthermore, the plate bank is equipped with aluminum high-quality force sensors.

Electric drives are no longer a black box. During Auto Prof, DTS Lopik will demonstrate how the Tesla Large Drive Unit (LDU) is repaired in practice — technically sound, reproducible and cost-efficient. The LDU, used in older Tesla Model S and Model X variants, among others, combines an electric motor, reduction gearbox and inverter in a single unit. In practice, we see recurring problems such as bearing wear in the reduction gearbox, internal coolant leakage towards the inverter and failing rotor seals. Complaints range from whining noises to malfunctions and emergency operation. At DTS Lopik, the drive unit is completely dismantled, technically assessed and rebuilt according to fixed procedures. Bearings and seals are replaced, cooling circuits are repaired and the unit is rebuilt while retaining functionality and cooling. No quick fixes, but structural solutions.
