Hyundai/KIA bearing noises Gear Drive Unit and Traction Motor

At DTS Lopik, we are increasingly seeing electric Kias and Hyundais with an annoying problem: bearing noises in the traction motor and Gear Drive Unit (GDU). In this article, we discuss the Kia Niro EV, Hyundai Ioniq AE EV, and Hyundai Kona OSe EV and explain what causes this problem, which parts are affected, and how we permanently solve it.
